The beautiful and very attractive design will leave most people to look after you as you stroll down the street. When this is paired with Alfa engines that all sound great and love high revs, the adrenaline can only rise. And the feeling behind the wheel is great.
The Alfa 156 lies well on the road and in corners, and the chassis is well balanced. The trunk is not a great size, and the rear shock absorbers reduce it even more. A wide range of engines that are all very lively. We start with a 1.6 petrol engine that can’t be blamed for not trying to cope with the mass of the 156. The advice though is to take a slightly larger engine, so 1.8 and 2.0 are the most logical choices.
We have to mention that the 2.5 V6 sounds phenomenal and pulls great. The most powerful 156 has a V6 of as much as 3,200 cubic meters, and you will recognize it by the GTA label. In our opinion, this is still too strong an engine for this chassis.
The average consumption for smaller petrol stations is around eight liters of unleaded petrol, while V6 models consume twelve or more, depending on the driving style. From diesel, the well-known Italian JTD engines are installed, which are great, and for the needs of Alfa, a little stronger than in other models.
The 1.9 variant has 115 horsepower, and the more powerful, 2.4, even 175. These engines pull great and are not too noisy. The average consumption you can expect is around six liters of Eurodiesel.
