The Alfa Romeo 145 has a unique shape, but not a very high quality car. A model for enthusiasts who are willing to endure some flaws.

The best models are equipped with a 1.8-liter Twin Spark engine, manufactured after 1999.

Alfa Romeo 145 – Appearance

This is, like most Alfas, one of those cars you love or just can’t stand. We will not discuss styling, but it is up to you to decide for yourself whether the Alfa Romeo 145 is beautiful for you. The interior is not the best, the buttons are very sensitive, there is not much space on the rear bench, and the trunk is not to be commended. The driving position is not great, the seats are set high and quite uncomfortable. The suspension is quite rigid and the ride quality is close to shaking your kidneys. Therefore, we cannot say that this is a practical car. Again, there are people who forgive all this just because of the look and the fact that it is Alpha. Models after 1999 have been redesigned, with significantly improved ride quality and new engines.

Alfa Romeo 145 – Engine

This is an old, good Alfa, so if you prefer diesel, you have no business here. The petrol engine starts at 1.6 liters, which is enough for city driving, and although it is explosive, it is difficult to fight sudden overtaking. Since this is a sports hatchback, the recommendation is any of the two larger engines, it’s just a matter of choice. The 1.8 engine is great and one of the most sought after for resale so we can warmly recommend it. 2.0 is even livelier and offers a great driving experience. The average consumption is slightly higher than seven liters of gasoline, but the pressure on the gas will surely take you away, so expect much higher consumption.

Alfa Romeo 145 – Failures

The first thing to check is that the car was not accidentally damaged. This situation is not common, especially with sports machines like this. Strange electronics behavior is common, so make sure everyone edits work properly. The interior is not of the highest quality, so expect a squeak and rattle. Be sure to change the timing belt regularly, as this is very important for Alfa engines. If the toothed belt breaks, extremely expensive repairs are needed. Hanging and trap are another problem. These parts are not cheap at all, so make sure they are correct before you give money for a car, no matter how cheap the 145 is.
