ALFA ROMEO 159 (January 11, 2006 – November 30, 2007) FAULT: The brake pedal can be stiff when depressed, requiring stronger pressure from the driver to stop as a result of insufficient low-braking assistance caused by low vacuum at low engine speed while on high altitude immediately after starting.
Solution : Recall vehicles that are likely to be affected by the installation of an electric vacuum pump in addition to the engine vacuum system.
ALFA 159 (01/03/2005 – 28/02/2007) FAULT: Oil may leak from the Power Take Off Unit which may result in blocking of the unit and possible loss of control of the vehicle.
Solution : Recall the affected vehicles to fit the seal to the unit plug and install the bracket.
ALFA ROMEO 159 (October 17, 2007 – November 19, 2007) FAULT: Due to the possibility of failure in the production process, the flexible rubber brake hoses may not have been properly vulcanized. As a consequence, the internal flow of the brake hydraulic fluid may be partially or completely restricted. If this happens, there will be a reduction in efficiency during braking.
Solution : Towed vehicles will check the hoses to determine if they are in the affected batch. If this is the case, they will be replaced with guaranteed quality items.
