Audi A7 Oil Change DIY

Audi A7 – recall and failures

  • It is possible that, in isolated cases, oil arrives into the brake force amplifier through the vacuum hoses. This can lead to damage of the amplifier membrane and consequently to reduction of brake force, which could lead to an accident. The recall affects vehicles produced between March 2012 and December 2012.
  • Differences in the mixture ratio for the initiating devices for the airbags or seat-belt pre-tensioners could lead to the airbags or seat-belt pre-tensioners not activating in the event of an accident. Recalled are vehicles produced between July 2016 and December 2016.
  • The additional coolant pump can block due to foreign particles in the cooling system. This can result in the pump overheating which could lead to a fire. The recall concerns vehicles with 2.0 T engine manufactured between March 2011 and December 2016.
  • The electrical connector for the auxiliary heating element may not have been fully secured during the assembly process. This could lead to increased contact resistances in the connector area. In such cases, thermal overload could arise, which can lead to a fire. The Audi A7 models affected by this recall are diesel-powered without factory-installed parking heaters and produced between July 2014 and October 2014.
  • The locking mechanism in the articulated trailer hitch may be defective. Consequently, the trailer hitch might not be correctly locked and could swing out, causing the trailer to drop while the vehicle is in motion. The Audi A7 models affected by this recall were manufactured between February 2018 and October 2018 and retrofitted between March and November 2018.
  • In certain vehicles, fuel can leak onto the engine fuel rail. Fuel leakage close to a source of ignition may increase the risk of the vehicle catching fire. The Audi A7 models affected by this recall were produced between September 2013 and April 2018.
  • Moisture can penetrate into the belt starter generator (RSG – Riemen-Starter-Generator). This can result in a short circuit, leading to local overheating and increased risk of fire. Due to the permanent power supply of the starter generator, this can occur when the vehicle has already been parked for a while. The Audi A7 models affected by this recall were equipped with 2.0 TFSI engines and Mild-Hybrid systems and manufactured between May 2017 and March 2020.
  • Faulty crash sensors for the airbag restraint systems may have been installed in both the front doors. This could impair the protective effect of the side airbags, head airbags, and/or belt tensioners, increasing the risk of injury in the event of an accident. The Audi A7 models affected by this recall were manufactured between July and September 2020.
  • Due to a manufacturing defect in the instrument panel, the deployment of the airbag could be impeded. This could impair its protective potential and could lead to plastic parts become detached when the airbag is activated, increasing the risk of injury in the event of an accident. The Audi A7 models affected by this recall were manufactured between December 2017 and December 2020.
  • The vehicles may be fitted with a towbar with a swivel mechanism that may have a defective locking pin. As a result, the pin could break while driving, increasing the risk of an accident. The Audi A7 models affected by this recall were manufactured between August 2015 and December 2018.
  • The nuts on the eccentric bolt of the rear-axle spring-link control arm may break due to stress corrosion. As a result, the rear axle could move in the wrong direction, in an uncontrollable manner at high speeds. The Audi A7 models affected by this recall were manufactured between 7 November 2019 and 16 April 2021.
  • The vehicles are equipped with control software regarded as unauthorized by the competent authorities. The Audi A7 vehicles affected by this recall were manufactured between 2010 and 2018 and were equipped with 3.0 l Euro 6 diesel engines.
