Audi Q3 – recall and failures

  • The bolt of the pressure-input shaft situated between the electromechanical brake servo and the brake pedal may come loose. As a result, the mechanical connection between the brake pedal and the brake servo would no longer be guaranteed, increasing the risk of an accident. In the event of an emergency, the vehicle can be immobilised by activating the electronic parking brake. The Audi Q3 vehicles affected by this recall were manufactured between 24 August 2020 and 19 July 2021.
  • The safety belt restraint system might only work to a limited extent in the event of sharp braking or lateral tilting of the vehicle. This will lead to an increased risk of injury. The Audi Q3 and RS Q3 models affected by this recall were manufactured between 1 February and 31 March 2021.
  • Due to a manufacturing error, a weld joint between the brake pedal and the brake-pedal plate could break when the brake pedal is suddenly applied. This can result in complete detachment of the brake-pedal plate, increasing the risk of an accident. The Audi Q3 models affected by this recall were manufactured from calendar week 29/2020 to calendar week 35/2020.
  • Due to a manufacturing error, the belt-pulley securing ring of the steering system may not be fully engaged. As a result, the securing ring may become detached and subsequently jam with surrounding components, leading to possible locking of the steering system. The Audi Q3 models affected by this recall were manufactured between June 2019 and January 2020.
  • The screw connection attaching the seat frame to the seat rail may not be correctly executed. As a result, it may fail in the event of an accident, increasing the risk of injury. The Audi Q3 models affected by this recall were manufactured in July 2020.
  • The breaking point for the release of the front passenger airbag in the console may not have been fabricated correctly. As a result, the airbag may not penetrate the console as required in the event of deployment. This will impair its restraining and protective functions, increasing the risk of an injury. The Audi Q3 models affected by this recall were manufactured between April 2019 and January 2020.
  • The function control device of the Body Control Module (BCM) may be incorrectly configured. This may cause a malfunction of the front light-emitting diode (LED) turn signal lights (blinkers) without the required warning indicator (acoustic/optical), increasing the risk of an accident. The Audi Q3 models affected by this recall were manufactured between 2014 and 2018.
  • A welded joint in the gas generator of the front passenger airbag may be faulty. This means that, in the event of an accident, the airbag may not deploy properly. The recall affects vehicles manufactured between September 2016 and November 2016.
  • When emergency braking is actuated using the EPB (electro-mechanical parking brake), the braking lights are not activated. Following traffic is not informed of the emergency braking operation and the resulting deceleration of the vehicle which could lead to an accident. The recall affects vehicles manufactured from June 2014 to November 2016.
