Suzuki SX4 2006-2014 – reviews, used car, typical faults

Read Time:3 Minute, 15 Second
Suzuki SX4 -The Fiat Sedici twin is a neat, economical car that meets the expectations of people living in the mountains.
  • Years of production: 2006-2014
  • Engines: benz. 1.5-2.0 (99-150 hp), diesels 1.6-2.0 (90-135 hp)
  • Version: htb 5d, sed
  • Length / wheelbase: 414-449 / 250 cm, width / height: 173/160 cm, luggage compartment: htb 270-1045 l, sed 515 l

BODY FUNCTIONALITY

This is one of the first crossovers in our market. The car is economical, inexpensive to repair and extremely reliable. There is little more space inside than in the Fiat Grande Punto, but for a small family the car will be more than enough. Increased ground clearance makes it easier to navigate in light terrain.

ENGINES

All power units can be recommended. The biggest thing is the petrol, naturally aspirated version 1.6. Among diesel, the 1.9 DDIS and 2.0 DDIS variants seem to be a perfect choice. Both are Fiat constructions, known for their low maintenance costs, good durability and very good performance (a more powerful version “closes” the counter). The economical ones can recommend diesel engines – 1.6 (from the PSA concern, available only with front-wheel drive). Unfortunately, they are prone to oil spills.

EMERGENCY

The car is distinguished by its reliability. Possible defects are usually small things. Example: 4×4 drive does not work. Cause: The plug at the rear differential has become loose.

COSTS

The design of the SX4 is simple, and replacements (such as fully replaced front suspension arms) are affordable.

MARKET SITUATION

4×4 vehicles predominate. Contrary to more expensive rivals, it is easy to find a car in good condition.

WORTH KNOWING

  • Together with the Suzuki SX4, its construction twin, Fiat Sedici, was offered on the market.
  • A year after its premiere, the range was completed by a sedan.
  • In the 4×4 version, the rear drive is transmitted via an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch. The solution is very durable. In the event of an overload, the drive disengages to cool down.
  • The successor is Vitara, not the SX4-Cross.

  • Knocking steering gears The steering gears – most often start knocking in cars before a facelift

  • Oil dragon seal in 2.0 DDiS – Failure causes lubrication to drop and may result in engine seizures.
